How to add operator

Hi - I am new to this, and have set up a server for my children. It has all worked, but the inital spawn point is at the bottom of a cave, which obviously is no good when you have not had a chance to collect any equipment. From going through this forum, I switched to creative, and tried to use /setworldspawn command, but it says unknown command - which I assume is because I do not have operator status. How do I give myself operator status? Alternatively, how do I just delete this world and start with a new one? Many thanks.

Use the server console and do `op <your player name>` or add your name to the ops.txt in the base directory.

Depends on your server setup. If you're using a host there should be a link somewhere to access the console.
