Nemisys and Synapse

I am trying to set up a series of servers connected with Nemisys and Synapse and am not understanding how to do it due to lack of understanding what Nemisys and Synapse do. I would just like someone to explain to me

1. How synapse and Nemisys work
2. Which server should players connect to
3. How do I transfer players from one server to another

I am running this on a Windows pc and am not using a hosting service.
